    From 1989 onwards, furniture manufacturer Matteograssi began to apply its experience in the contract sector to the field of International airports. The company’s production range is therefore suitable for those customers who require high prestige, durable furnishings.

    Each specific project is personalised and developed to provide a global furnishing concept. The seating’s production is versatile, with particular importance given to finding ergonomic solutions that are both functional and innovative. Matteograssi products have the added advantage of being able to be used in a multitude of different airport settings, according to the particular area and end use involved. Comfort, elegance and prestige are the essential requirements of the end consumer, while combining with buyers, the need to offer maximum flexibility in terms of production and realisation.

    Matteograssi can also provide a complete and all inclusive service, and will undertake delivery and assembly operations the world over. From the first installation completed in 1990 at Rome (da Vinci), less than 1% of seats are today reported as showing any damage caused by the millions of passengers in transit at this airport. The company operates in accordance with the regulations as laid down by UNI EN ISO 9001 certification and it is in the process of acquiring UNI EN ISO 14001 Environmental ertification.     History: Founded in 1880, Matteograssi of Mariano Comense, Italy, began as a saddlery craft enterprise but evolved into a furniture maker by the end of WWII, producing furnishing items in a combination of leather, coach hide, wood, glass, and steel.

    For the Salone del Mobile 2018 Knoll introduces KN Collection by Knoll designed by Piero Lissoni, a seating collection of impeccable style, capable of making every moment a precious opportunity for complete relaxation, open interaction and the pleasure of socializing, or for use in private spaces set aside for regeneration in a dimension of personal identity. The collection features a range of materials that set every creation apart, underlining the sophisticated spirit that looks to the future, while at the same time paying tribute to the great design of the past: accents to scatter freely in residential spaces, but also versatile solutions for high performance workplaces and luxury interiors. The whole collection is made with a swivel base in polished or coated cast aluminium.

The stools are upholstered in hand-stitched coach hide leather, over black aluminum frames, with unique impressed circular seats.     The base equipped with an internal damper offers a self-regulating system to ensure immediate comfort. KN comes in two different versions. In the low model KN01 the proportions between seat and shell height, combined with ample measurements, provide a balanced blend of compactness and comfort.     “This is a seating collection, a family of chairs with a modernist spirit, for which I have applied my usual proportions. In this project I have set out to reflect the entire history of Knoll”, so Lissoni describes the new collection of armchairs. A wide range of fabrics and leathers is available for KN Collection in all the versions, offering many options for personalization and accentuating the sober elegance of the design. KN is the perfect combination of some of the fundamental values of Knoll products: design, high quality of materials, maximum comfort and painstaking attention to detail. Piero Lissoni is architect, designer and art director. In 1986, he and Nicoletta Canesi founded Lissoni Associati, a multidisciplinary architecture and design firm based in Milan. This was followed by the opening of the visual communications company Graph.x in 1996 and later by the architecture firms Lissoni Architettura and the New York based Lissoni Inc.

    With its multinational staff, the group encompasses all aspects of architecture, interiors and product design, as well as graphics, art direction and corporate identity, extending globally to include hotel, restaurant, residential, corporate, retail and exhibition design. Piero Lissoni is art director for major brands such as Boffi and De Padova and designs collections for internationally renowned names including Alessi, Flos, Glas Italia, Living Divani, Kartell, Kerakoll, Knoll and Porro. He has received an array of international awards, amongst which the Good Design Award, the Red Dot Award and the ADI Compasso d’Oro. Recently completed architectural projects include the Conservatorium Hotel in Amsterdam (2012), the Mamilla Hotel in Jerusalem (2009), renovation of the historic Teatro Nazionale in Milan (2009) and the headquarters and production facilities of Kerakoll Design Lab (2014), Matteograssi (2011), Glas Italia (2010) and Living Divani (2007) in Italy. Soon to be inaugurated are the Oberoi Resort Al Zorah in Ajman, UAE, two towers for the Swire Hotel Group in Shanghai, exclusive waterfront condos and villas for the Miami Beach Ritz-Carlton Residences, twelve hotels across South Korea for the Shilla Stay Hotel brand, the new Roomers Hotel in Baden-Baden, a boutique hotel on the shores of the Italian lakes, a mixed-use development in central Moscow and a luxury townhouse in Chelsea, New York.
